Celebrate Strawberry Season at These Festivals and Farms
Excerpt from the Washington Post
Strawberry shortcake is a must at Wegmeyer Farms’ annual Lincoln Strawberry Festival, but the Virginia farm also whips up strawberry cookies, strawberry muffins and strawberry doughnuts. The farm-baked treats go along with the fair-like atmosphere during this weekend, which includes a craft sale, pie- and ice cream-eating contests, wagon rides, face painting and live music. Picking strawberries isn’t part of the festival admission, but you can sign up for picking on-site as long as you’ve purchased a festival ticket and as long as strawberries are available. May 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and May 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wegmeyer Farms, 18451 Taylor Rd., Hamilton. lincolnstrawberryfestival.com. $16.18; no ticket required for children 2 and younger.
